description
- 500 kV Quixadá – Fortaleza II line tripped due to misoperation of protection. No fault, overload, bad weather, or other obvious cause was present.
- The tripping resulted in a voltage sag and triggered voltage and frequency oscillations and out-of-step protection tripped 600ms later to split the grid into 3 islands
- Approximately 46 lines tripped across 230 and 500 kV grids
